What is the Definition of MLM?

Commonly known as Network Marketing, Multi-level Marketing (MLM) is the type of business where their distributors earn through direct-selling their products and also by recruiting new members for their company. They usually market their products through direct-selling using word-of-mouth marketing or relationship referrals to consumers and potential business partners.

Relationship referrals and word-of-mouth marketing may sound easy but actually is not. It’s easy to be a member of the NFL club, which is the No Friends & Family Club, since this involves asking every person you’re related to into joining one of your business presentations in which they do you a favor by doing so and this will cause them to hide from you and avoid you.

Even though the word-of-mouth marketing’s concept may sound simple, it’s actually not because the hardest part is to find people who will not avoid you.

But by changing your strategies in marketing, you will see a different perspective in Network Marketing. The only thing you need to find is your target market and with this, potential customers will be the ones approaching you for your products/services.

How does MLM work?

Distributors, who usually don’t have a regular salary from the company itself, are the ones who showcase the parent company and they earn commission based on how much products were sold on their side of businesses.

There are various ways on how distributors can develop their organizations; they can build a customer base who buys directly from the company, or by recruiting new people for their downline where they will also make their own customer bases which will make the organization grow all in all. They can also purchase products from the parent company at wholesale prices and sell them with their retails prices.

I also mentioned target marketing awhile ago, out of all the potential business clients, there are those who are just very interested in your product that they end up being your business partners and usually the business partners who are also product users tend to stay for long.

These business partners are very essential because there are more people dropping out from your downline than entering it and actually plan on staying. So it’s just like taking 1 step forward but moving 2 steps back causing discouragement easily for newcomers in Network Marketing.

After knowing about MLM Definition, now how do you earn in MLM?

Distributors earn based on how well they were able to market their products and also the sales of their downline. This is very similar to how franchise arrangement works, they earn based on how much the individual franchises earned in an area. Commissions are earned by the distributors depending on what compensation plan the company has and there are a lot of people who earns just by a single person’s sales.
